Back to Nature
It’s no secret that I love color, but this holiday season I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to go back to nature.
I’ve had these beautiful birds for a couple of years and used them as my inspiration piece. instead of adding glitzy gold as I have in the past, I went for pinecones and mercury ornaments that remind me of my grandmothers. I used winter white, brown and gold ribbon to add some contrast. To make the tree have some extra sparkle, add larger ornaments inside the tree up and down the trunk.
Leftover ribbon from the tree and mantel made for the perfect bows for Christmas gifts under the tree.
I fell in love with these winter white knit stockings. Adding the same ribbon that I used on the Christmas tree tied it all together. Large and small pinecones tucked in artificial garland adorn the fireplace. If you want inexpensive garland to look fuller, just add inexpensive greenery picks from the craft store. I’ve also found that using the clear adhesive hooks are a great way to hold the garland in place on the mantel. (Make sure you get the hooks that are removable and don’t damage your mantel)
